Abstract (Synopsis):

The review of recent developments in commercial /office “smart” buildings and work environments have led to emergence of the digitalization (and control) of  lighting systems being powered over Ethernet by leveraging the technology of LED Lighting.

Learning Objectives:

  • Review of the recent developments in commercial /office “smart” buildings and work environments that have led to emergence of the digitalization (and control) of lighting systems being powered over Ethernet.
  • Understanding what is Power over Ethernet (PoE) as it relates to connected lighting and the benefits these lighting systems offer by leveraging the latest LED technology.
  • Review of several applications and the benefits associated with systems integrations using lighting through Power over Ethernet
  • Understanding on the components and systems requirements to make PoE systems work in new commercial buildings.

One hour, with approximately 45 minutes of presentation and 15 minutes for questions

Ujjaini Dasgupta, Director of Marketing, Philips Lighting North America 

Ujjaini Dasgupta is the marketing lead for End User Office, Industry and Healthcare segments for Philips North America. She supports the Enterprise Systems and Services sales team to drive and execute end user customer focused intelligent building solutions with lighting. Ujjaini has over 15 years of experience in the lighting industry in various positions with multi-national companies dabbling in the science, art, technology and business of smart, efficient and sustainable lighting. She holds a MS degree in Lighting from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) and is a member of Illumination Engineering Society of North America (IESNA). She is passionate about this ever-advancing field and the emerging new possibilities beyond illumination but always with a focus on the human factors.
